This year's Super Bowl features more than just the #1 seeds though, it features a team many consider a dynasty facing off against a team that would like to take that crown for themselves. The Patriots won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years, between 2001-and 2004 but haven't won since, although some still consider them a dyansty because they have been consistently successful. The Seahawks on the other hand are the most recent team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, beating Denver in last years Super Bowl, and will be looking to become the first team to win back to back Super Bowls since, you guessed it, New England in 2003 and 2004.
These two teams last played in the 2012 season, in a game in which the Patriots were unable to hold a 23-10 lead late into the 4th quarter. Russell Wilson threw the game winning touchdown pass to Sidney Rice with just over a minute left, leading the Seahawks to victory 24-23. What we all remember from this game however, is what Richard Sherman had to say for Tom Brady in a caption of a twitter photo. Sherman said that Brady had been talking trash earlier in the game and that Brady told Sherman to "come see me after the game". Sherman then did that and posted the photo on Twitter with caption "U mad bro?". Brady says that he doesnt really remember what was said that day but I doubt that he forgets what happened.
Aside from "Deflate-gate" and "U mad bro?", Super Bowl XLIX does feature some other interesting storylines. Interestingly enough, I think the most important storyline that no one seems to be talking about is the Seattle Seahawks defense vs the New England Patriots offense. New England comes into this game with the #4 scoring offense in terms of points per game (#1 in the playoffs) this season and Seattle comes in with the #1 scoring defense (ppg) in the regluar season (#2 in the postseason). Something will have to give in this game and I think it will be the Seahawks defense. I don't think Seattle will be able to stop Rob Gronkowski as I think he will be the difference maker. I think Gronkowski will have a pair of touchdown catches, with Brady throwing for 3 touchdowns total. I think Russell Wilson will continue the struggles he had for much of the game against the Green Bay Packers, and if the Patriots can somehow slow down Marshawn Lynch and prevent from being able to make a certain obscene gesture, I think they will be "fine" so to speak.
All of that being said my pick to win Super Bowl XLIX is.....New England 34-21 and I think Tom Brady will get the MVP going 25-32 with 312yds and 3TD's. Further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
